How much does doola cost over two years for a Wyoming LLC?

This is what a founder outside the US pays for a single-member Wyoming LLC over the first two years: formation, two years of plan fees and one annual report fee. We used the same Wyoming state fees for both providers.

If you file Wyoming's annual report yourself, doola Starter costs $104 less than our Starter over two years. If doola files it through its $199 add-on, doola Starter comes to $956, which is $95 more than ours.

With Form 5472 prepared every year, our Pro plan comes to $2,161 and doola's Tax and Compliance plan to $4,161. The doola plan includes more than tax filing: bookkeeping and invoicing software, expedited EIN processing, annual state filings, sales tax registration, a consultation with a CPA and free dissolution. If you'd use those, compare the plans on what you need, not on price alone.

doola Starter vs our Starter: what's included?

Both entry plans form the LLC and include an EIN (the IRS's tax ID for businesses), an operating agreement, a registered agent and a US business address. A registered agent is the company that accepts legal papers for your LLC in its state; see what a registered agent does.

The main difference is the annual report. Our Starter files it for you each year; you pay only the state fee. doola lists annual state report filing in Tax and Compliance and Business-in-a-Box, and as a separate add-on for Starter. Our Starter also includes legal and state mail scanning, a compliance calendar with reminders and a document vault.

Both get your EIN without a Social Security number. doola's help center estimates 4โ€“6 weeks for a standard application and 2โ€“3 weeks expedited, and says December to April can take longer. Expedited processing costs $300 on Starter. On our Starter we prepare and file Form SS-4 for you, and on Pro we apply by phone as your designee. Read how to get an EIN without an SSN.

Form 5472 and taxes: doola Tax and Compliance vs our Pro

A US single-member LLC owned by a foreign person generally files Form 5472 with a pro forma Form 1120 for each year it has transactions with its owner, and money you put in or take out counts, even in a year with no income. That's from the IRS instructions for Form 5472. See our Form 5472 guide and US taxes for non-resident LLC owners.

doola includes federal (IRS) and state tax filing in Tax and Compliance at $1,999 a year, and its tax page lists Form 5472 and Form 1120 for non-resident owners of single-member LLCs. On its own, doola's help center lists annual IRS tax filing at $1,500 a year, and its terms require at least $1,500 in payments per tax year before it prepares a return.

Our Pro plan includes Form 5472 and the pro forma 1120, prepared by our US tax partner, for $999 a year, together with everything in Starter. It doesn't include bookkeeping. We're not a CPA firm, so confirm your filing requirements with a US CPA, especially if your LLC has more than one owner or US activity.

When is doola the better choice?

doola forms LLCs and C-corps in any of the 50 states. We form LLCs only, so if you need a corporation, for example to raise venture capital, doola suits you better. Read LLC vs C-corp if you haven't decided.

doola also sells bookkeeping, which we don't. Pulse costs $300 a year, and Business-in-a-Box costs $2,999 a year or $329 a month and adds a dedicated bookkeeper, monthly financial statements and estimated quarterly taxes. Other add-ons include an ITIN application for $499. If you want one provider for formation, books and taxes, that's a real advantage.

Banking, Stripe and help for Indian founders

doola gives bank account guidance on Starter and lists partners including Slash, Mercury, Airwallex, Payoneer and Wise. For Stripe, it guides you through the application and can provide a US phone number, and it notes that Stripe doesn't let third parties open accounts for you. Our Pro plan includes bank and Stripe application support. With either provider, the bank or processor decides whether to approve you.

Both of us charge in US dollars. We also show indicative rupee prices (Starter is about โ‚น33,300 a year before the state fee), and Pro includes an RBI overseas-investment checklist. doola's help center explains India's overseas direct investment (ODI) rules and says it assists with US compliance only. Confirm ODI reporting with a Chartered Accountant, and see opening a US bank account as a non-resident and forming a US LLC from India.

Which should you choose?

  • You need a C-corp or bookkeeping: doola.
  • You'll file the annual report yourself and want the lowest two-year cost: doola Starter, at $757 over two years.
  • You want the annual report filed without moving to a higher plan: our Starter.
  • You need Form 5472 every year without bookkeeping: our Pro plan.
  • You're an accounting or CA/CS firm: both offer partner programs. doola quotes custom pricing for its white-label API; our partner plans publish the per-company price.
